First report of the Asiatic Brush-tailed Porcupine Atherurus macrourus (Linnaeus, 1758) (Mammalia: Rodentia: Hystricidae) from West Bengal, India

چکیده
We report the western most distribution of Asiatic Brush-tailed Porcupine Atherurus macrourus (Thomas, 1921) in India. An individual was photo captured semi-evergreen forests Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary, northern West Bengal on night 28 January 2019. It is a rare rodent species that distributed northeastern states India but not reported from Bengal.
